View Full Version : Fast, Creative ways to display multiple Pics joshlawler7 01-07-2004, 03:50 AM Hey - anyway know a fast, easy way to display lots of pictures without a lot of hassle? Any suggestions appreciated. :) Makar 01-07-2004, 04:05 AM Well, if you make the file size as small as possible without losing a lot of the quality, then you're golden. I personally like to use Fireworks MX for this because it shows what the original file looks like before and while you're trying to export it. GIFs are the smallest image file...at least I think they are...so if your pictures don't contain too many colours I'd go with making them all GIFs. If not, you could always go with JPEG or PNG, but I'd stay away from bitmaps as much as possible. That way if you wanted to display a lot of pics you could make a banner or something. Hmm...I hope this helps. Neptune 01-07-2004, 05:16 AM Do you want them all in the same spot and full sized? Because if all you want is to have them in the same spot you could use thumbnails. I find them really helpful. The visitor will be able to see all the images, and pick and choose which they will want to see. Ideal when you're trying to have something of an album. I'm not really sure what you are trying to pull together though, so if it's something else you are looking for, I'd agree with Makar. You can also reduce the size of images on other programs (like in paint shop pro by selecting one of the "export" options under File). :) bellportal 01-07-2004, 04:22 PM Yep. The best way is probably to compress them. There are loads of tools out there which will do it. Do a quick google search for 'image+compressor' and see what comes up. Regards, joshlawler7 01-08-2004, 12:10 AM What I want to do is have thumbnails, but without having to make a seperate page for each picture, like being able to click on a picture, and have a javascript popup with the picture in it. How would I do that? Or, Maybe click a link to a picture page, and have one picture, and a next, and previous button. How would that be done? Thanks for all the comments so far! joshlawler7 01-08-2004, 12:20 AM I think I figured out what I'm going to do. The page is for a band, and theres 4 members. So when a viewer clicks the "pics" page, it will have a link to each member, and then it will have the first image in the center, with a back button, and a next button on each side. Sound good? Any other suggestions? bellportal 01-08-2004, 10:51 AM Sounds very good. If you want more detailed help, you're very welcome to PM me. Regards, |
