I have been doing Pixel art for a while, but im not getting any better, any way I want to ask is therew a specail Pixel art program to use, at the moment I use MS Paint, but I save in .gif but when I save the colours all go funny, and I also would like to be able to make backgrounds transparent, I know how to do thing in MS Paint but as I said it always goes funny colours when I do.

then all i can suggest is downloading a trial from Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro... or The Gimp or Photoplus (wich is totally free) that will save your images like they should be.

There is something better and cheaper... go to http://webbie.suppi.net and have a look around. You can find a programm there which is called Giffy! With this thing you can save your Pixels as bmp, upload them with giffy and save them as a gif even with transperant background...

just FYI, the colors go wonky because gif's only support 256 colors and mspaint saves them using the standardized, web-safe pallette....so if you use a color that isnt in that pallette (am i spelling that right?), which is highly likely since youre working with 16 million colors and can only save in 256, it picks the closest color and uses it, which oftentimes is really far off from what you really wanted the color to be.

You have to save as gif to get a transparent background (or png, but i dont think mspaint supports that) so that's why the colors go funky there.
