Well, if you had a .gif file I'm sure you could probably open it up and save it as a .jpg. Another thing you could do is upload it to a site, and rename it from a .gif or .jpg to a .jpg or .gif . Other than this, I'm really not sure how to help you. Hopefully that answers your question, though.

it really depends on what software you already have- some versions of MS Paint can save in both .gif and .jpg format, so you could open it with that and use Save As and save it as another format, or you could probably do it with PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro, or even Serif Free PhotoPlus

that may cause the image not to show up at all. an image extension is telling the program what type of image the file really is. if you try to change the "outer layer", the insides will remain as the original type and confuse matters.

to change an image extension, you must use and image editor program of somekind.

you can probably find a bunch of free ones through "downloads.com" site.

as mentioned on an earlier post, MS Paint may be an option.
there may be some "online" programs usable too. try a google search for one.

paint shop pro supports a whole bunch of different image file types, so just open the file in psp and save it as a different extension. i do it all the time :D i dont know if ms paint supports a lot of different file types. mayhap i used a very old version? anyway, you seem to only need .jpg and .gif so you'll be fine with ms paint or psp

ps, this is a bit off topic but, aren't .gif files generally moving images? if so, when saving a .gif to a .jpg, the picture will be frozen in a certain position, right? just wondering :)

No, .gifs are not always animations. I have a very nice Programm called Giffy which you can download free here: http://webbi.suppi.net . I normaly don't give that link out because this Programm is somehow a realy secrettip... REALLY! You can load up BMP and save them as .gif and the other way around... It depends on how good the pic is on how good the result is...

I also remember if you use PSP and switch to a JPG from a PSp image, than it loses some of the stuff you do, I mean, it turns out fuzzier. :wolf:
