View Full Version : reputation
erictheman 12-28-2003, 05:22 AM sorry if this has already been asked, i don't come here that often.
i have a question reguarding the reputation icon. someone marked down my reputation for a post that was perfectly legitamate. is there way to fix this? like have only the people with so many posts be able to mark someone's reputation?
Anzrew 12-28-2003, 08:37 AM I dont even know how the reputaion system works, I only found out about it last night, lol
Marianne 12-28-2003, 09:27 AM No, you can't fix it, or even find out who did it.
It's not about being legitimate in your posts, it's more about personal likes and dislikes sometimes.
Some people will use it against others, but you can't abuse it too much, because you can't do that to the same person twice in a row.
The best thing is probably not to let it bug you too much, and just carry on.
Supernick 12-28-2003, 07:12 PM don't worry erictheman, someone else will lke annother of your post and will give you some reputation pts, it happened to me the same thing and then someone else gave me good rep. pts.
I wouldn't be overly worried about it. I think people are just testing things mostly. :P
westernrider 12-28-2003, 07:16 PM I am not worried that much either *shrug* even if someone takes away points from you there is nothering you can do about it so why worry about it?
Rosey 12-29-2003, 10:11 PM it's kind of fun..i guess someone didn't like the fact that i suggested they get netscape to get rid of popups...lol
I'm gonna spread some joy later after I change someone's icky stinky diaper *holds nose*
westernrider 12-29-2003, 10:43 PM I have figured out some people just do not like you.. I got a bad rep because someone thought I posted to much
"can you stop posting ever 3 minutes?"
and now I am probably gonna get another bad rep just because I posted that!...lol
Rosey 12-29-2003, 10:49 PM hey it's the chat section, that's what you do, chat..no harm in that.
westernrider 12-29-2003, 11:01 PM hey it's the chat section, that's what you do, chat..no harm in that.
lol... that is what I thought... I mean I wouldn't do that in the HTML section...heh... oh well... the people can think what they want.
Owlie42 12-29-2003, 11:55 PM What is this thing anyway? *is completely confused*
starlet 12-29-2003, 11:58 PM Check the 'upgraded forum' thread (i think thats what its called) its explained the best in there :D
Loren 12-30-2003, 12:20 AM Check the 'upgraded forum' thread (i think thats what its called) its explained the best in there :D
It is mostly in the new forum groups thread.
Owlie42 12-30-2003, 12:25 AM I don't quite get this...*humph*
edit: *reads those threads* *notices her yellow circle*Hey! What have I done now! grr...stupid new stuff..
Loren 12-30-2003, 12:48 AM I don't think anybody quite gets it. :P
Makar 12-30-2003, 06:01 AM So far I've got two good reps and one bad one. :D
I wish we knew the people who did it though, just because I'm curious out of my mind. (Although I know who gave me the bad rep, so ya better watch out ;) )
*starts singing 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'*
once it gets settled on exactly what it is, what it does (or doesnt do) and so forth... lissa (or mod) should make a new thread and stickify it to the top for all to see forever.
Makar 12-30-2003, 06:54 AM Maybe I missed something, but I'm still not totally sure about the colours. The yellow and the blue, what does it mean? And I think I heard about a red?
Rosey 12-30-2003, 07:40 AM we don't know, that's the whole theme of the thread!!
someone save us!!! :crying:
starlet 12-30-2003, 01:57 PM lol i guess it'll just take a while to be able to work it all out, in a months time we'll all be experts on the subject :P
westernrider 12-30-2003, 03:41 PM  I think after reading the 5 pages on the dots in the other thread I get it pretty well
Neptune 12-30-2003, 04:01 PM I think that's why all of us are trying to figure it out now. Because we are insane knowledge craving freaks who can't stand mysteries. Or something.
bubblegummy 12-30-2003, 04:08 PM I don't mind this reputation thingy, it's just a laugh, people take it too seriously! My most recent reputation had a comment and it was written by a mod (that I'm sure of lol) but now I'm itching to know who wrote it! Ah well =P
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 04:46 PM yea I have this one comment that docked me points and said "just cause" I really wanna know who did it. I have suspects :D lol
westernrider 12-30-2003, 04:58 PM ahhh... I hate it when they do not have comments! you want to know why you got it but you have no clue because it is just there!...lol.
Rosey 12-30-2003, 05:30 PM I know, sometimes I really want to know who did it but then again, it's not like i put my name on the ones i do..muhahaha. LOL
westernrider 12-30-2003, 05:39 PM lol... the only ones that really make me mad when they do not leave a comment are the red dots... because I think I heard that, that is when a mod is gving you a bad rep... and I really want to know why!...heh
Sheila 12-30-2003, 05:41 PM I'm as lost as the rest of you people. So red dots are from mods. And the yellow and blue we don't know yet. Is that correct or are we still assuming things?
westernrider 12-30-2003, 05:46 PM ok... by what Lissa said... is the blue and yellow dots do not mean they are good or bad... it is just said a person with a blue dot gave you rep... like if I gave you a good rep the dot would show up blue but say my dot changed to yellow... it would still be the same rep but the dot would change since my dot changed.... I hope that makes sence... the red dots... I think it is either a mod gave you a bad rep or it is jsut a bad rep either way... we still yet to figure it out :)
kittycat 12-30-2003, 05:51 PM It would be easier to understand if it were just the red and blue, but the yellow is confusing... (for me) it says the reputation on that post is even but it can't be a one bad & one good reputation on there because there is only one. The past few of mine have been just the yellow, so I'm wondering if maybe it's just a bug... And I remember Lissa saying somewhere something about how the same user can't give you the same reputation twice or something, maybe that's why some are showing up yellow? The dot showing the reputation level of the user just seems kind of weird because most around here now do have the blue dots, at least that I've noticed.
Sheila 12-30-2003, 05:54 PM I guess when vBulletin's (www.vBulletin.com) site is working again, Lissa will be able to find out. :) I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
westernrider 12-30-2003, 05:55 PM ever since the reputation thing started a lot of people were poping up with blue dots... I think Lissa should just add a section in the FAQ about all this...
Lissa 12-30-2003, 06:20 PM Red is probably from someone who has a terrible reputation, it's not from the mods. Mods would be marked blue I think.
westernrider 12-30-2003, 06:24 PM ohhhhh ok... that makes me feel better... if it is someone who has a bad rep himself he might just be doing it because he can... one thing I am still confussed about is I got a good rep but it didn't make my points go any higher... the thing that is confussing me is the red dots always seem to be bad... so far I have gotten 3 red dots all saying they think I post to much in a chat board...lol
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 06:29 PM I'm so glad we got this dot thing straightened out  That was a confusing two days lol
kicker91 12-30-2003, 06:47 PM *blinks* huh?
okay, so blue = postive, red = negative, and yellow = neutral?
SizzZzlinhair 12-30-2003, 06:51 PM No, I think that it just depends on who it was that gave/docked points from or to you.
For example, if someone's rep was yellow and they gave someone rep points, the dot in the User CP would look yellow to the person who got the rep points just because the person who gave it to them has a yellow rep dot.
Is that right, Lissa?
(Kicker, check your PM box!)
kicker91 12-30-2003, 07:04 PM (Okay Sizz!)
Okay, that makes absolutely no sense to me, but I get it. (Anti-redundantness)
Lissa 12-30-2003, 07:35 PM Then the red dots are a negative rep =/
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 07:40 PM Then if I got a negative rep then and I know I had one point docked off, why wasn't the dot red?
Lissa 12-30-2003, 07:59 PM Ok, here's the deal with the dots
If you have a red dot in your user control panel, it's a negative mark.
Any other color (blue, yellow, etc.) is a positive mark. The color just signifies the persons reputation level that marked you.
Some people have more reputation giving power than others.
I can read who the comments are from and who marked me, but I don't believe anyone else can (correct me if I'm wrong).
There are a whole series of colors with the rep thing:
User is infamous around these parts
User can only hope to improve
User has a little shameless behaviour in the past
User is an unknown quantity at this point
User is on a distinguished road
User will become famous soon enough
User has a spectacular aura about
User is a jewel in the rough
User is just really nice
User is a glorious beacon of light
User is a name known to all
User is a splendid one to behold
User has much to be proud of
User has a brilliant future
User has a reputation beyond repute
Colors will change as your rep goes up, until you get to a very high level. Then you will have a crown instead of a dot
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 08:21 PM :princess: *Wants a crown* :D How much do you need for a crown?
freakEgurl 12-30-2003, 08:21 PM lol. it makes no sence at all.
I wonder, what colour my icon is .. I know I got a negative thing .. for something tottaly stupid, too.
Arc Angel 12-30-2003, 08:26 PM lol. it makes no sence at all.
I wonder, what colour my icon is .. I know I got a negative thing .. for something tottaly stupid, too.
Their's a colored dot to the right of your post count. That is your color. =)
SizzZzlinhair 12-30-2003, 08:27 PM :princess: *Wants a crown* :D How much do you need for a crown?
<offtopic>Cherchez, I thought you were SSPrincess, I guess because of that smiley  </offtopic>
Rosey 12-30-2003, 08:32 PM ooooo i'm a little less confuseled now. :)
edit: no i'm still confused, lissa has 2 dots?? Does that mean she is moving up? :confusion
westernrider 12-30-2003, 08:43 PM ahhhh... scary! she does have two dots!
freakEgurl 12-30-2003, 08:44 PM She isnt the only one with 2 dots ..
I think neptune has got 2 too.... *very confused*
westernrider 12-30-2003, 08:45 PM the dots are taking over! *hides*...lol... it must have to do with the new forum groups... probably something Lissa made... mabey that means they arein one of the top groups...
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 08:46 PM I wanna have two dots :(
westernrider 12-30-2003, 08:49 PM I want two dots too! :crying:...lol... Neptune has two dot for sure... *nods* yes Lissa deffinetly needs to write all this down in the FAQ or this thread will go on forever :P
bubblegummy 12-30-2003, 08:54 PM lol this is really weird... now I think I figured out who the first mod was to give me a reputation. She used the ;) smiley, and I've always associated her with that smilie :P And then another mod apparently gave me points, but she had a yellow dot, wouldn't she have a blue one? I just don't know :P
And this 2 dot thing is just so funny to look at, I just haven't figured out why yet. =P
Neptune 12-30-2003, 08:55 PM I think they are there to match my... uh, green eyes...
Seriously though, this is all very interesting. I'm also very confused, but I think I sort of almost get it.
Neptune 12-30-2003, 08:57 PM NOOOO! I did NOT mean to double post! I meant to edit! I am SO sorry!
SizzZzlinhair 12-30-2003, 08:58 PM Lol, yes, I came to this thread and saw Lissa's 2 dots and was like "Ahh! Is my computer messing up again..?" so I refreshed and read the rest of this page, and realized that I wasn't the only one who's seeing double :P
Rosey 12-30-2003, 08:59 PM oh neptune does!
how many points you got neptune?
well you know what guys? It gives us something to be all puzzled about!
westernrider 12-30-2003, 09:00 PM NOOOO! I did NOT mean to double post! I meant to edit! I am SO sorry!
l:lol:l we forgive you for your sinful double post :P j/k... hmmm the two dots are funny to look at!
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 09:00 PM Is that a good or bad thing? :confusion
Neptune 12-30-2003, 09:00 PM Ermmm... 108...
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 09:03 PM You pass 100 I guess whoever passes 100 gets 2 dots :D Well I'm happy for you Nep, you'll be getting a crown in like no time lol  congrats!
westernrider 12-30-2003, 09:07 PM  I am not even close to 100! ohh I will never get two dots haha... I think I am fine with my one dot :) it doesn't look as funny
Lissa 12-30-2003, 09:29 PM 2 dots  2 dots????? Sheesh, now I'm confused
Lissa 12-30-2003, 09:31 PM  I think after reading the 5 pages on the dots in the other thread I get it pretty well
I thought I had it all figured out. Now I don't have it figured out hehe ;)
Neptune 12-30-2003, 09:34 PM Maybe it's like the stars? They add on for however many.
westernrider 12-30-2003, 09:34 PM 2 dots  2 dots????? Sheesh, now I'm confused
you probably have 2 dots because you have over 100 rep points... Neptune got his and he has 108 points... and he probably just two dots right as he went over 100... just a guess *shrug*
Neptune 12-30-2003, 09:35 PM Erm... I'm a girl... yes, um, hmm.
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 09:36 PM :D It's ok we're all one big confused happy family
Lissa 12-30-2003, 09:39 PM Maybe it's like the stars? They add on for however many.
I think, then, that my dots might be too big ;) If they're just gonna pile up like that, WOW! Can you imagine how much room they would take up if you had 2000 points?
bubblegummy 12-30-2003, 09:41 PM Hehe I'd be even more amused if each dot stood for a letter, and 2000 points revealed the whole word. That'd be weird. I'm amused enough as it is with just looking at 2 dots though :P
Rosey 12-30-2003, 09:42 PM that's probably what it is, when someone goes over 100, i'll let you know, i'm at 99...hit me people ;) lol
Arc Angel 12-30-2003, 09:44 PM I think, then, that my dots might be too big ;) If they're just gonna pile up like that, WOW! Can you imagine how much room they would take up if you had 2000 points?
lol
People would think you was reaaally special. :P
westernrider 12-30-2003, 09:46 PM Erm... I'm a girl... yes, um, hmm.
 sorry Neptune! I meant girl... my mind was just so confussed already I said the wrong thing! I am sorry!
People call me a guy all the time... :(... I know how you feel... it is because I do not have a very girly name *shrug*
edit: whoohooo! yeah Rosey has two dots now also! yup it is deffinetly when you go over 100
Neptune 12-30-2003, 09:48 PM Haha! It's fine. :) These things make me laugh.
Edit: Neither do I. Neptune is kind of an either-or name.
Rosey 12-30-2003, 09:49 PM ok thanks for hitting me whoever that was..lol
i got 2 dots now and whoever you are, you sent me flying with 19 points...so thanks :)
must be someone famous.

how much do you need to get a crown??
I'm gonna go spread some joy now.... :)
westernrider 12-30-2003, 09:53 PM whoohoo! I am gonna give people lots of rep... at least to people I feel deserve it! I think a lot of people abuse the system though by making peoples points go down just because they can... oh well... nothing I can do to stop it... *runs around giving good rep to people*
Neptune 12-30-2003, 09:53 PM *intrigued* Some count for more then? That's curious. I was kind of thinking that they gave out the same ammount of points for each person. Well, anyway, congrats :)
Rosey 12-30-2003, 09:55 PM i think the amount they give depends on how much they have..yes? no? maybe?
lol
i ran out of joy!! lol
westernrider 12-30-2003, 09:55 PM ohhhh! I have 28 points so that means I only need 72 more points till I get two dots! whoohooo!
that is gonna be a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGgg time from now... that would be weird if someone had 2000 rep points.. they would sure be feeling the love!
edit: :( I ran out of joy to... it keeps saying.. you can not give that person any more rep until you sped it to someone else :|...oh well! *runs around finding more people to give joy to*
Supernick 12-30-2003, 09:56 PM People call me a guy all the time... :(... I know how you feel... it is because I do not have a very girly name *shrug*
lol! i also thought you were a guy first until i looked at your profile.
how much do you need to get a crown??
i think i'm far from getting a crown. :D
Neptune 12-30-2003, 09:56 PM I'm hoping these reputation points won't be the new avatar replacement (in the sense of how they are wanted).
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 09:56 PM Just like a post count it takes plenty of time :D I dont think your score will be hurt badly lol :P
westernrider 12-30-2003, 09:59 PM *jaw drops*
someone really important must have stopped by my door... I just gained 20 points with one person
*shocked*
ohhh I like this reputation thing... I like making people happy!
Neptune 12-30-2003, 09:59 PM Can you imagine the horror? "now that i have an av can u please give me sum rep points?"
Rosey 12-30-2003, 10:01 PM well i want to give to some people but i already gave to them so i had to hunt down new people..lol
I ran out for the day, it said i gave out too much rep in the last 24 hours..lol
now i have to wait til tomorrow..lol
Can you imagine the horror? "now that i have an av can u please give me sum rep points?"
if they ask like that, they never said good or bad rep ;)
Arc Angel 12-30-2003, 10:02 PM Can you imagine the horror? "now that i have an av can u please give me sum rep points?"
Eh, it seems to be the noobie way.. Wanting that which they can't have in less time than it took everyone else. I'm sure it will happen sooner or later. Most likely sooner. =\
westernrider 12-30-2003, 10:02 PM wow...lol... I didn't know you could run out of rep!
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 10:05 PM You can't you just go negative :P But if people keep abusing their privilege of giving reputation points I think we'll all be in the negative section soon :crying:
bubblegummy 12-30-2003, 10:06 PM Heh I have also got 2 dots... how strange. I'm being told that I have to spread the reputation around too, giving it to all the same people lol
Neptune 12-30-2003, 10:11 PM If run out on giving points to a single person, we ought to save em'. I hope that isn't true though.
Rosey 12-30-2003, 10:14 PM You can't you just go negative :P But if people keep abusing their privilege of giving reputation points I think we'll all be in the negative section soon :crying:
what does that mean, you give out joy and you get docked for it? That's not fair :(
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 10:16 PM What the worst part is you can do anything about it :( It would be nice to know who gives us reps or not though
Marianne 12-30-2003, 10:17 PM I keep forgetting which ppl I gave points too, so I keep hitting the button and getting the same message over and over again, "you have to spread some reputation... etc."
I am spreading it, I just forget whom to
Loren 12-30-2003, 10:18 PM I think she was talking about something else.
Marianne 12-30-2003, 10:19 PM I think she was talking about something else.
oh, sorry, I thought she was talking about someone taking rep. points from her. Guess I've been awake too long today!
edit: wait, I can still edit out what I said so this post and yours will look hopelessly pointless hehe
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 10:22 PM But I was talking about someone talking rep points from me though :stickout:
Marianne 12-30-2003, 10:23 PM But I was talking about someone talking rep points from me though :stickout:
DUH! and I just edited my posts because I didn't want to look stupid
westernrider 12-30-2003, 10:24 PM ohhhh that is sad :( ... I like giving out joy but not if it takes points away from me...lol
bubblegummy 12-30-2003, 10:26 PM Hehe people shouldn't take points from you, providing the joy you're giving is worth reading and all. :D If it's pointless, it's less likely they'll want to add to your rep.
Loren 12-30-2003, 10:32 PM DUH! and I just edited my posts because I didn't want to look stupid
Oh, I was replying to Cherchezlafemme's post, not yours.
I was saying you don't get docked reputation for helping up or down someelses rep.
It seemed people were taking an earlier post to mean that you lost rep points if you said someone elses post was good, and I was saying you don't.
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 10:37 PM But I didn't mean that, I just meant that people were abusing people's reps that's all. I wasn't really replying to anyone in general
Loren 12-30-2003, 10:39 PM I found the miss inturpeted post:
You can't you just go negative :P But if people keep abusing their privilege of giving reputation points I think we'll all be in the negative section soon
People thought that ment you could lose points for helping peoples rep. When, I believe what you ment was if other people abuse it saying your post is bad you we will all end up negative and be in the red.
Rosey 12-30-2003, 10:40 PM oooo i think i get it now..lol
:confusion
SizzZzlinhair 12-30-2003, 10:49 PM I don't think I'll ever get it :P Though I think I might, I'll never fully understand lol.
If you're in the special group, do you give and take away more points by default?
Loren 12-30-2003, 10:54 PM See if this helps explain rep. I found this on the vB site: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89626
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 10:58 PM The link wont work for me :(
Loren 12-30-2003, 11:07 PM that's odd it works for me, here I will post the thread or the important part atleast:
User Reputation FAQ is not yet ready, but this is the information I've gathered at the moment:
If the Admin enables this option, users will be able to disable the display of their personal reputation to the public. (Users will still be able to give reputation to users who have disabled the public display of their reputation.)
What Exactly are Reputations : by SirD
Reputations as I understand them, are a means of showing your confidence level in what someone has to say. Like grading someone's work, post's, replies, time as a member. For every 6 months as a member, I believe you are given 1 point of value, even if you say nothing. You can grade for a message and you can downgrade a message or show your dissapproval of someone's actions, plus you have the option to leave a comment about the reason you approve or dissapprove, or say nothing at all. So many options, this is one of many.
Ok, more about what is being released so far, this is a "New Feature", so some of the final details are being worked out.:
Default Reputation levels: (10)
This is the reputation level that each user is given when they register as a known member. I as the administrator must have a level that is at least equal to or less than this value.
These are the values considered, to create a members total reputation:

lilmsunpopular 12-30-2003, 11:23 PM At first I didn't get it, now I think I. The more circles you have the more reputation points, you've got?
westernrider 12-30-2003, 11:24 PM I do not think I will ever understand it...
Valkyrie 12-30-2003, 11:25 PM I do not think I will ever understand it...
Ive read through this thread...*sniff*
I dont think Ill ever understand it either.
westernrider 12-30-2003, 11:30 PM Ive read through this thread...*sniff*
I dont think Ill ever understand it either.
it is so crazy how much we can say about little dots!
Valkyrie 12-30-2003, 11:34 PM Yes, I even had a dream about it. 0_0
and I wasnt even thinking about the forum last night...
Loren 12-30-2003, 11:35 PM At first I didn't get it, now I think I. The more circles you have the more reputation points, you've got?
Yep
westernrider 12-30-2003, 11:36 PM I bet in a few months people will start to get like 5 little dots... that will really be weird...
Loren 12-30-2003, 11:40 PM I bet they will have crowns before then.
Valkyrie 12-30-2003, 11:40 PM  This is too complicated for my feeble mind! *sobs*
Neptune 12-30-2003, 11:42 PM This is a very active thread. It's really funny. And the HTML help forums are rather empty... unusual.
Rosey 12-30-2003, 11:42 PM it would be nice to know what these limits are:
how many people do we have to hit before we can hit the same people again?
how many points we can give (it would be neat to show that in your cp somewhere)
and how many people we can hit in a day.
the last 2 may not be possible, it might be something vbulletin hasn't made possible.
I think this is starting to make more sense to me..*i think*
Cherchezlafemme 12-30-2003, 11:42 PM But I still don't get why my points are going up or down, and people are giving me points
westernrider 12-30-2003, 11:43 PM I bet they will have crowns before then.
crowns? oh no... more info for me to figure out
*crys with Valkyrie :crying:*
Neptune 12-30-2003, 11:44 PM I don't want to leave because I'm afriad I'll miss something
Loren 12-30-2003, 11:46 PM Sort of, when you say someone has good post (I approve post) you up their rep and saying they have a bad post (I disapprove post) pulls it down.
Owlie42 12-30-2003, 11:54 PM Well, it's starting to make sense...sort of...
kittycat 12-31-2003, 12:01 AM So red is bad no matter what, blue means that the user has given you points and a good rep, and yellow means good rep but the user hasn't given you any points? And the yellow may be because the user doesn't have 'reputation giving power' or whatever that was that Loren posted.
If that's basically it, it makes sense to me now :P I just kind of skimmed over the last few pages so I'm not sure if someone's already said that :P

Yes, that's the way I understand it. From what Lissa said.
From what I've seen, red is bad, and blue and yellow depends on how many reputations the person has, and my guess is if someone has the double blue it'll show up as two blue dots, and all the way up... yeah..
Arc Angel 12-31-2003, 12:21 AM Wow, such confusion over little dots! :P
lol
Loren 12-31-2003, 12:35 AM Yes, mabey once the vb 3.0.0 comes out in a final version thier will be better explanation. Since right now we're using a beta.
(The reason why it is imposible to delete a message while viewing it because your always told you specified an invalid PM number.)
SizzZzlinhair 12-31-2003, 12:37 AM What I want to know is how many rep. points gets you a crown
kittycat 12-31-2003, 12:40 AM That was posted at some point, it's 2000 if I remember correctly
sebluver 12-31-2003, 12:43 AM I like my dot. I know I'd like it less if it were yellow because I don't like the colour yellow. I have a funny feeling that if yellow were good and blue were bad, I'd prefer having a bad reputation just so I could keep my pretty dot. :D
SizzZzlinhair 12-31-2003, 12:43 AM Oh okay thanks.. wow thats a lot of rep points
Loren 12-31-2003, 12:49 AM Does anyone have a link to the crown image just so we can see it?
starlet 12-31-2003, 12:51 AM lol this thread is amusing, things are starting to make sense at least though!
and bubblegummy now has 3 dots yay, so just so we can check...do you now have 300 points (wow!) I have 32 points and one dot so thats looking right at least lol
Loren 12-31-2003, 12:58 AM Bubblegummy should feel special. That's more than Lissa!
Neptune 12-31-2003, 01:04 AM Whoa! Way to go, Bubblegummy! Yay :)
Loren 12-31-2003, 01:39 AM We should have a party. (Bubblegummy, it is now your asignment to get 2000 points and show use what the crown looks like.)
Neptune 12-31-2003, 02:37 AM If she gets to 2000 that's awesome, but it is kind of a lot of pressure to say it is her mission. I wouldn't be surprised if she made it there first, though :)
SizzZzlinhair 12-31-2003, 03:17 AM If she gets to 2000 that's awesome, but it is kind of a lot of pressure to say it is her mission. I wouldn't be surprised if she made it there first, though :)
Me neither :)
westernrider 12-31-2003, 03:25 AM w00t! *cheers bubblegummy on*
everyone should help her so we can see what the crown looks like ;)
freakEgurl 12-31-2003, 03:42 AM I still have no understanding in how they work .. *sighs*
Im what most people like to call an idiot, see.
I agree with westenrider .. Lets all give Bubblegummy repution, and see what her crown look like. hehehe. *goes oft oo hand bubblegummu reputionion*
westernrider 12-31-2003, 03:54 AM *jumps out of fright*
woa... now I have two dots!
that is scary with ONE person giving me good rep it jumped me up 68 points... they must have been REALLY important...
*continues to cheer bubblegummy on to get the crown ;)*
Rosey 12-31-2003, 04:02 AM Go go go !!!
westernrider 12-31-2003, 04:07 AM I never knew how fun it would be to give people these points... awww... but I ran out of my daily limit...:( I have to wait another 24 hours!
Sheila 12-31-2003, 09:05 AM I'll write this here too.
Someone wrote: Hey Sheila, just curious. What color is the dot next to this mark?
It was blue.
bubblegummy 12-31-2003, 09:52 AM lol silly people what are you giving me reputation for? I don't even want it!
But no, I haven't got to 300 yet, just to confuse you even more :P I've got 265. Which must mean you get onto 3 dots if you have 250? lol
Lissa 12-31-2003, 12:27 PM That was me, just checking the system
lol silly people what are you giving me reputation for? I don't even want it!
But no, I haven't got to 300 yet, just to confuse you even more :P I've got 265. Which must mean you get onto 3 dots if you have 250? lol
Maybe you get a dot per 50 reps?
No, wait nevermind lol
Lissa 12-31-2003, 02:36 PM I changed the system a little bit, some people had really HUGE rep powers  Sheila gave me one that was worth over 100 points
You get rep power through number of days registered, number of posts made, number of rep points you have. I don't even wanna know how much starlet's rep power is
Cherchezlafemme 12-31-2003, 02:39 PM *hey viki, I'm your best friend right?. And best friends share right? now share!!!!!* lol haha jkjkjkjkjk
*that goes for you too lissa* lol jkjkjkjk
I want some rep power :(
Loren 12-31-2003, 02:40 PM I wonder what that makes your rep power.
Lissa just said,
You get rep power through number of days registered, number of posts made, number of rep points you have.
Cherchezlafemme 12-31-2003, 02:43 PM You took my post :P *bop* lol jkjkjk
I hate it when this happens...
starlet 12-31-2003, 02:46 PM I changed the system a little bit, some people had really HUGE rep powers  Sheila gave me one that was worth over 100 points

Muahaha hehe i just gave you some rep point...thingies so you can see how much 'power' i have :D
Loren 12-31-2003, 02:49 PM Lissa just said,
You get rep power through number of days registered, number of posts made, number of rep points you have.
I was asking what that ment Lissa's rep power was. If Sheila's is over 100 points that would mean Lissa probably has like 200 or 300 rep point's to give. If it made your points go up it would be great but if it made you go down that would take a long time to recover.
Cherchezlafemme 12-31-2003, 02:57 PM Loren cope with us, try typing in what you mean please :) B/c we aren't mind readers so sometimes we aren't on the same page you are. mmkay? Write it down more specifically that'll help from having a huge big arguement lol
Loren 12-31-2003, 03:03 PM I think it's this whole thing where you click on the little button to say which post your replying too. (For some odd reason I just expect that you know I'm replying to Lissa's post and not the post above mine. Even though unless you use hybrid or threaded mode you could never tell.) Mabey one of these day's I'll get it. :D
westernrider 12-31-2003, 03:25 PM my two dots were taken away :( :crying: now my one dot is lonely! ...lol
westernrider 12-31-2003, 03:48 PM Sorry for the double post but someone asked me this
Quit crying to everyone. Please, let me know how much power I have. You can post in rep or new groups. Whichever.
ummmm you gave me 1 point.....*shrug*
Cherchezlafemme 12-31-2003, 03:53 PM Good lord people!!!! They're just dots for crying out loud!!!! What do two measily little dots prove of anything of you??????????????????? It's just for FUN!! You all are making this into one BIG HUGE deal, when it's not. You have what you have just deal, it's only been three days and most of you are thinking the world is gonna end or something. What matters is that you are an active member and that you participate here in LEIA. That's the only reputation you have, and no one but YOU is in control of it. :D ok im done

Cherchezlafemme 12-31-2003, 03:57 PM MAybe they don't have any points of their own? :confusion:
Anzrew 12-31-2003, 03:59 PM Oh yer never thought of that, so does that mean I have no rep power, untill someoone gives me a rep point?
- Anzrew :)

Cherchezlafemme... I am just kidding when I said that... you really think I think my one dot is lonely? I do not think this is a big deal and I admited to myself being stupid in the other forum...lol...

Was there a yellow dot beside it?
Anzrew 12-31-2003, 04:02 PM lol we have the same convosation going on two forums, lol
- Anzrew :)
Anzrew 12-31-2003, 04:03 PM Was there a yellow dot beside it?
yes
Cherchezlafemme 12-31-2003, 04:04 PM Well I'm sorry you may be just "kidding" but will you let us know? Usually if you're kidding you would normally put an "lol" or a "jkjkjk" to give us the heads up ;) We're getting mixed signals that's all...oh yea keep the convo in one thread if you please
Anzrew 12-31-2003, 04:04 PM Opps, I got told off for postig too fast, there is a 60 second time limit.
Sorry! The administrator has specified that users can only post one message every 60 seconds.
- Anzrew :) Sorry
Loren 12-31-2003, 04:05 PM MAybe they don't have any points of their own? :confusion:
I have 100 rep points and I only give 1 point when I say something so... I'm not quite sure what it is mabey I don't have enough posts.
<offtopic>Yes western, that's right it was me. I was reading your profile and this is scary or odd you were born 21 days before me and in the same city as me. I just don't usaly run into people born where I was especialy now that I live in SC. You a boy or girl? Don't ask why I'm curious by your name you seem like a boy but I think I remember a post by you saying you were a girl. I'm a boy but my name (also my real name) sounds sortof like a girl but I'm a boy. </offtopic>
westernrider 12-31-2003, 04:07 PM Well I'm sorry you may be just "kidding" but will you let us know? Usually if you're kidding you would normally put an "lol" or a "jkjkjk" to give us the heads up ;) We're getting mixed signals that's all...oh yea keep the convo in one thread if you please
I am sorry
*makes note*
I was kidding...
my two dots were taken away :( :crying: now my one dot is lonely! ...lol
I did put a lol after it
edit: I am a girl... and I do not know why I haven't run into you
yes
I'm pretty sure you get that one automatically.
Anzrew 12-31-2003, 04:09 PM :o, but what i cant understand is why it came from that thread? wouldn't it just be blank?
- Anzrew :)
Which thread did it come from?
Anzrew 12-31-2003, 04:14 PM New Forum Groups, after I posted a comment about, how I dont know how the reputation system works and some one said read the first 3 pages, that told me nothing. Just how please people are about it and little error etc... Not how it works, but any way it was the New Form Groups Thread
Anzrew 12-31-2003, 04:46 PM Thankyou to who ever thinks im friendly, my dot and me are greatly appreciated, lol
- Anzrew :D
Rosey 12-31-2003, 07:14 PM i love this rep thing..it's fun!!
i noticed lissa has 4 dots, i didnt see what bubblegummy has but lissa might beat her to the crown..lol
Neptune 12-31-2003, 08:25 PM I can confirm that yellow add no points. I mean, it's a nice thought, but they don't count.
westernrider 12-31-2003, 08:32 PM I can confirm that yellow add no points. I mean, it's a nice thought, but they don't count.
yup... I wonder how you can tell if your reps are counting... like if I give someone a good rep I want it to count... one person who gave me something it added like 70 points... it was weird.
You said in another post you lost 70 points, so I guess things are all made up now :)
Anzrew 01-01-2004, 10:38 AM I can confirm that yellow add no points. I mean, it's a nice thought, but they don't count.
If yellow dots dont count and every one started on yellow then how did people starting giving reps if they all had yellow, that means every one would be on yellow still.
- Anzrew
Sheila 01-01-2004, 01:54 PM I changed the system a little bit, some people had really HUGE rep powers  Sheila gave me one that was worth over 100 points
You get rep power through number of days registered, number of posts made, number of rep points you have. I don't even wanna know how much starlet's rep power is
Wow, that was nice of me. Is there away you can control how much you take or give away? Or can you (Lissa) only do that?
Ravie 01-01-2004, 04:50 PM Confuzzing  Of course someone is going to start begging people for reputation points. :crying: More dots I need more dots.
Owlie42 01-02-2004, 01:24 AM Pleeeeesee!?
, Just kidding.
pixiegrrl 01-02-2004, 04:24 PM can somebody please give me reputation so I will know what it looks like? thank you! :waving:
Ravie 01-02-2004, 04:32 PM I wasn't really begging for them. I was being scarcastic  People gave me them from this thread. Not that I didn't apprisiate it. Ugh I spelled that wrong.
pixiegrrl 01-02-2004, 04:47 PM thank you for showing me what it looks like, I like to know. only I think it would have been nice if I had more good points, I was only asking :(
i finally get it  ....YAY....it only took me about 13 pages (of reading) to get it but owell
Loren 01-02-2004, 06:54 PM I view 40 posts per page so mine is only 5 pages. :)
thats a good idea i can change it from forum default and save time in viewing :D
sisqoluv 01-03-2004, 05:08 AM In another thread, it was claimed that every certain amount of posts will also boost our reputation... Is this true or....?
westernrider 01-03-2004, 05:14 AM yeah... that is true... I think I still give zip points... cause I gave someone good rep because they helped me a lot and it didn't do anything... oh well :D
Loren 01-03-2004, 12:52 PM It bothers me that all these people give you good reps and it does nothing. Especaily because I have 99 points because 1 person took away one point and that makes me not able to have 2 circles. :(
Lissa 01-03-2004, 01:31 PM You get more rep power by number of posts and number of days you've been a member.
starlet 01-03-2004, 02:23 PM If you are leaving good rep just leave your name, fair enough people wont want to if they are giving bad rep, but if its just just sign your name at the end like 'from Starlet' or whatever...it drives me mad not knowing where its coming from lol
Loren 01-03-2004, 02:28 PM If you are leaving good rep just leave your name, fair enough people wont want to if they are giving bad rep, but if its just just sign your name at the end like 'from Starlet' or whatever...it drives me mad not knowing where its coming from lol
Lissa is lucky she gets told who gives and takes rep from her.
starlet 01-03-2004, 02:50 PM heh, thanks Lissa :)
Lissa 01-03-2004, 02:57 PM heh, thanks Lissa :)
:D
Lissa is lucky she gets told who gives and takes rep from her.
She's the admin, she finds out all that secret stuff. :P
Are we able to find out how much rep power we have, and how much we're giving away? and if we can where can you find this out
Lissa 01-03-2004, 05:16 PM Are we able to find out how much rep power we have, and how much we're giving away? and if we can where can you find this out
Your reputation level is 17. Your reputation power is 0.
westernrider 01-03-2004, 05:19 PM maybe that is something you could add to our control panel... like under were it says who has given us what reputation you could put our reputation power if that is even possible :P
Ravie 01-03-2004, 06:08 PM I have no clue what my power is and I really don't give a ninny woohoo do
Cherchezlafemme 01-03-2004, 06:20 PM I just wish that more people carried that same attitude
Ravie 01-03-2004, 06:24 PM :crying: NO body is reping me. Not fair not fair. Rep me NOW!!!!!!!!! Meanies I am going to throw myself off of a bridge ( on a bundgee cord of course)
Cherchezlafemme 01-03-2004, 06:29 PM  you do that now.... lol
I hope no one actually throws themselves to the mercy of the members to give them reps.
Ravie 01-03-2004, 06:33 PM LOL somebody just rep'ed me and gave me one whole point... I am soo privlaged got 51 points bahahahahahahahaha
Cherchezlafemme 01-03-2004, 06:38 PM lol I thought it didn't matter  lol
Someone didn'y give me a point :( wahahahahaha *tear* *sob* *sob*
:stickout:
Ravie 01-03-2004, 06:45 PM I got one of those zero pointer too. I as sooo soo MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Demand a re-do, re-do, re-do do do
Neptune 01-03-2004, 06:56 PM *holds sides* I'm rather fond of the whole "redo" thing. I should demand that more often
westernrider 01-03-2004, 07:17 PM I have gotten a bunch that are like
"yay I want to give you points!"
and then they end up not giving me anything :buckt:
lilmsunpopular 01-03-2004, 08:09 PM Could you make it so people have to comment when they give you points, if so that would be good. thanks :)
Could you make it so people have to comment when they give you points, if so that would be good. thanks :)
except if you give someone a bad rep..
Neptune 01-03-2004, 08:19 PM I don't think knowing would be so great in some instances... Such as what Bethygirl brought up. If someone gave you a bad rep, and it would just continue like that... given, you can't give more than one reputation thing to one person over a certain ammount of time, but still. It could turn into an eternal grudge.
Loren 01-03-2004, 08:24 PM He said comment like "You need to actualy answer their question" not who gave it too you. Who gave it too you could realy cause problems with bad reps though like Neptune said.
sisqoluv 01-03-2004, 08:26 PM He said comment like "You need to actualy answer their question" not who gave it too you. Who gave it too you could realy cause problems with bad reps though like Neptune said.
I do agree that people should have to leave comments. It would be nice to know why people like or dislike you.
Loren 01-03-2004, 08:34 PM sometimes you can tell but other times it drives you nuts espicaly if you see no reason why the post is bad.
lilmsunpopular 01-03-2004, 08:35 PM except if you give someone a bad rep..
It would justify why they think you deserve a bad rep.
westernrider 01-03-2004, 08:37 PM I deffinetly think it is good when people post comments on bad reps... Id someone gets 3 bad reps all in the same thread they are gonna want to know why
Marianne 01-03-2004, 08:46 PM if you get 3 bad reps in one thread, I would suggest carefully re-reading what you wrote!
westernrider 01-03-2004, 08:51 PM I haven't got 3 yet... but I did get two... luckily both people wrote comments and I fixed it right away.. it wasn't what I said... it was just I posted way to much... and when I looked back I did post every other message... and I realized how bad that was :P
sisqoluv 01-03-2004, 08:51 PM sometimes you can tell but other times it drives you nuts espicaly if you see no reason why the post is bad.
Yeah, my first rating was bad, but I didn't know why. I looked at the thread and nothing offensive was said... I assumed it was just someone testing it out, since it was new.
Marianne 01-03-2004, 09:03 PM I haven't got 3 yet... but I did get two... luckily both people wrote comments and I fixed it right away.. it wasn't what I said... it was just I posted way to much... and when I looked back I did post every other message... and I realized how bad that was :P
I'm glad you have changed that!
westernrider 01-03-2004, 09:30 PM 0_0 at least I hope I have changed it! talking a lot is my curse and I hate it when I bug people... so feel free to PM if I over do it with my posting
Rosey 01-03-2004, 10:09 PM Yeah, my first rating was bad, but I didn't know why. I looked at the thread and nothing offensive was said... I assumed it was just someone testing it out, since it was new.
same here, i got a bad rep, no comments...oh well.
aviegrace 01-05-2004, 07:07 AM "You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later."
I'm too nice! :o
sisqoluv 01-06-2004, 12:53 AM same here, i got a bad rep, no comments...oh well.
Yeah, I didn't cry over it; but if someone's serious about a bad rep, I'd like to know why so I won't offend anyone else :) I don't care about names, just comments.
bellportal 01-06-2004, 07:59 AM Hi,
I have been given poor reputation on some posts which I consider to be quite good and helpful. Can I find out who gave me the reputation?
Sheila 01-06-2004, 08:23 AM Hi,
I have been given poor reputation on some posts which I consider to be quite good and helpful. Can I find out who gave me the reputation?
Nope, only Lissa can see that.
bellportal 01-06-2004, 08:33 AM Oh! Will Lissa tell me if I ask her?
Marianne 01-06-2004, 10:33 AM Oh! Will Lissa tell me if I ask her?highly doubt that
pixiegrrl 01-06-2004, 10:42 AM I got bad points too, from someone who said: omg you're back!
but other people were nice to me and gave me good points
i don't think I will ask Lissa to tell me who did that.
Tsuki Usagi 01-06-2004, 12:08 PM :bunny: That was most amusing, confusing and interesting. There should be a list somewhere of what this all means
Loren 01-06-2004, 12:20 PM I'm guessing once we get the final board version their will.
Lissa 01-06-2004, 12:24 PM Oh! Will Lissa tell me if I ask her?
Nope.
bellportal 01-06-2004, 01:02 PM Okay, thanks Lissa.
Ravie 01-06-2004, 01:21 PM I she does it for you should would have to do it for everyone else. That made me hungry for potato chips.
I got bad points too, from someone who said: omg you're back!
but other people were nice to me and gave me good points
i don't think I will ask Lissa to tell me who did that.
is it possible to know if the rep given was bad or not? i thought it was said that the dot (in the rep area in the cp) was just representing the voter's rep value, not the value of the vote towards them.
thus... the "OMG your back" could have actually been a god rep as they may have been excited you are back instead of the opposite?
Lissa 01-06-2004, 01:47 PM I she does it for you should would have to do it for everyone else. That made me hungry for potato chips.
And besides, it's not easy for me to find out who's giving whom what stuff. I can see who is giving me good/bad rep points easily.
jamslam 01-06-2004, 01:53 PM Hi,
I have been given poor reputation on some posts which I consider to be quite good and helpful. Can I find out who gave me the reputation?
I am in the exact same situation as you :(
Lissa 01-06-2004, 02:07 PM Bellportal, your rep points are positive, I'm not sure why you're concerned about it.
Checks are in place to make sure that one person's rep cannot be marked down many times by the same person.
If you feel like one person is being a problem, I can check it out for you, but since your rep points are positive I don't really think you have much of a problem ;)
bellportal 01-06-2004, 03:40 PM Thanks Lissa. How many rep. points do you have BTW?
Marianne 01-06-2004, 04:00 PM Thanks Lissa. How many rep. points do you have BTW?
Now there's a personal question!
Ravie 01-06-2004, 04:01 PM I'm not telling anyone what my reputation points are. They are mine mine and you can't have them. :apanda:
Lissa 01-06-2004, 04:43 PM  Yeah, quite personal. I love giving them out though ;)
bellportal 01-06-2004, 05:07 PM  Yeah, quite personal. I love giving them out though ;)
So do I - except I am now getting messages telling me I have given out too much!
BTW, I'm sooooo sorry to be personal!
lilchici13 01-06-2004, 07:11 PM how do you even check what your reputation is?
bubblegummy 01-06-2004, 07:14 PM Go to user CP, it's on the first page :)
what do green dot/square things mean... i just noticed them today and they're not circular anymore...
They're just new images. Green is neutral, blue is positive, and red is negitive.
