View Full Version : What did you think of the Secret Santa? SizzZzlinhair 12-25-2003, 03:12 AM Just wondering what you guys thought of the Secret Santa.. this might have come out to be my one good idea per year! Woohoo! kicker91 12-25-2003, 03:23 AM I love it! We should also do Secret Heart for valentines day, and secret easter bunny, and secret other stuff! :D *more presents...* SizzZzlinhair 12-25-2003, 03:24 AM :D How about "Secret Admirerer" for Valentine's Day.. that sounds better than Secret Heart :P But I think two per year is enough.. otherwise people get sick of it all. kicker91 12-25-2003, 03:26 AM :( Fine. Yeah, secret heart sounded corny and cheesy... at the same time. LesPaul59 12-25-2003, 03:26 AM I like 2 per year secret admirer and secret santa kicker91 12-25-2003, 03:29 AM Yes yes. All in favor, yell 'Aye-ball.' adrielle 12-25-2003, 03:30 AM Secret Easter Bunny! LoL I like that. :P What about having Secret Santa every year and rotate from Secret Admirer, Secret Easter Bunny, Secret Whatever blah? :P We should do stuff from other cultures as well:D like uh, Secret Red Packet? :P SizzZzlinhair 12-25-2003, 03:33 AM Yes yes. All in favor, yell 'Aye-ball.' Aye-Ball Ohhhh I get it! Like eyeball! But not! zangerbanger 12-25-2003, 03:41 AM Hehe, I wasn't part of it, but I saw some of the gifts people gave and received. I think it's a great idea and I won't dare miss out on the next one! jessi15 12-25-2003, 03:48 AM Aye-Ball! I didn't participate, but I think it's really cool. I wish I were able to make things like that, but I highly doubt I'd ever be able. :crying: adrielle 12-25-2003, 03:54 AM Of course you will! :D Heh, Eric & I posted at the same time...Aye-Ball! Oh and I forgot to say that I love love love lovedddd :P the Secret Santa:D westernrider 12-25-2003, 05:42 AM Aye-Ball! I wasn't in it this year -sulk- so I deffinetly want to be a part next year! designhazard 12-25-2003, 05:48 AM i was having this event on my board too. Valkyrie 12-25-2003, 05:48 AM aye-ball! I didnt participate this year...*feels guilty*, but I will next year. By then Ill know how to make nicer things. :p westernrider 12-25-2003, 05:51 AM I would hate it if I missed it again! lefty 12-25-2003, 06:58 AM I thought it was fun :D We should definitely do a secret-admirer thing for v-day, just make sure we get the opposite gender  bubblegummy 12-25-2003, 08:55 AM Heh yeah the secret santa thingy was good :P I was a bit confused at first whether we were meant to post the presents in the thread, or to PM them to Alcy. But I just did both, so it was ok :D Bring on the next one, count me in! Aye-ball! starlet 12-25-2003, 12:50 PM I thought it was fun :D We should definitely do a secret-admirer thing for v-day, just make sure we get the opposite gender  I dont think theres enough male members lol Was great, thanks for organising it! adrielle 12-25-2003, 01:19 PM Lol..erm yeah that's true, eh. (i noticed that Canadians did that, at least jessi15 & pb&j:P lol) Loren 12-25-2003, 02:32 PM I missed it this year but I'm going to make sure I don't miss it again. Can some PM next time? :) I'm will to write programs to asign people parteners and so people can sign up and say what they want. westernrider 12-25-2003, 02:38 PM that would be really awsome Loren... I must asume it was complicated asigning everyone partners.... wasn't it? Ayosu_Ling 12-25-2003, 05:50 PM ..aye-ball! it was a great idea. :D jessi15 12-25-2003, 05:53 PM Lol..erm yeah that's true, eh. (i noticed that Canadians did that, at least jessi15 & pb&j:P lol) Yup, that's a Canadian thing  Neptune 12-25-2003, 08:51 PM I loved it! It was so much fun. Thanks Shannon for doing it for us! We all really enjoyed it :) Inu 12-25-2003, 09:46 PM Aye-ball! Whooo! That was fun! Heh... sisqoluv 12-25-2003, 11:18 PM Just wondering what you guys thought of the Secret Santa.. this might have come out to be my one good idea per year! Woohoo! It was fun! It gave us a chance to meet new people that we may not have ever talked to otherwise. Plus, it felt good to give =) lefty 12-25-2003, 11:43 PM I dont think theres enough male members lol good point  Owlie42 12-26-2003, 01:23 AM It was fun! I think we need a little bit longer...because I did Ayosu's gift on the 22nd and finished it on the 23rd...:D I say we keep it up! Cherchezlafemme 12-26-2003, 01:52 AM I wanna do it again!!!! :crying: I really liked it, SS was really fun :D kicker91 12-26-2003, 02:33 AM active male members (off the top of my head)... me - kicker91 mike - LesPaul59 dan - Dude128 nick - ArcAngel pb&j - pb&j umm... loren - Loren dan(ny) - Damoose Heh... i can't think of anything right now... too much packing. :froggie2: Cherchezlafemme 12-26-2003, 02:35 AM ummmmm active male members and Secret Santa...i don't get the connection kicker91 12-26-2003, 02:36 AM lefty and starlet said for secret admirer there wouldn't be enough male members. aww who cares anyway? aren't we all just one big, obsessive family? :D adrielle 12-26-2003, 02:57 AM :D Of course! *grabs kicker* He's all MINE! :lol:jk westernrider 12-26-2003, 03:04 AM :D Of course! *grabs kicker* He's all MINE! :lol:jk *backs away slowly from adrielle* I will be partners with me! lol *hugs myself SizzZzlinhair 12-26-2003, 03:33 AM that would be really awsome Loren... I must asume it was complicated asigning everyone partners.... wasn't it? Nah, it was easy.. and fun! :D I wrote everyone's name down, then I wrote them down again and cut them up. Then I put them in a hat and juggled them around, and went right down my list of names that were already written down. Say I had this order: kicker91 starlet LesPaul59 Then I would pick 3 numbers, and it would come out.. kicker91- lefty91 starlet- Alcy LesPaul59- Cherchez Those were just names I picked out of my head, but that would mean that kicker had lefty, starlet had Alcy, and LesPaul had Cherchez. I'd rather do things this way, because I think that people are getting too lazy in making computers do everything for them. It was fun, and what is this world coming to if people can't pick names from a hat? :P sisqoluv 12-26-2003, 05:08 AM We should definitely do a secret-admirer thing for v-day, just make sure we get the opposite gender  There's a script (for a different forum, however), that lists all the members by gender. Makar 12-26-2003, 05:55 AM Yes, I'm all for the secret admirer thing for St. Valentine's Day, since I missed the Secret Santa. It looks like great fun! cute_angel10490 12-26-2003, 07:22 AM Yes, I'm all for the secret admirer thing for St. Valentine's Day, since I missed the Secret Santa. It looks like great fun! same here =] lefty 12-26-2003, 02:32 PM kicker91- lefty91 starlet- Alcy LesPaul59- Cherchez Who is this lefty91 character? I'd like to meet her :P westernrider 12-26-2003, 03:36 PM mabey since there is not enough boys to go around *snicker* we should call it something else... like... "the secret valentine"...lol... I give valentines to other people... not JUST boys... :buckt: Marianne 12-26-2003, 08:17 PM I had fun with secret Santa. As for secret valentine's, these days they don't have to be opposite genders, do they? Loren 12-26-2003, 09:36 PM I guess not. I wonder why mostly girls join this? The reason I was thinking to make a program was so people could type in what they wanted and then the person could get them something like what they want. I suppose you could just make a thread though and say, "Post what you want, " and then the person could just go look and find what their person wanted. Marianne 12-26-2003, 09:45 PM hmmm, dunno about that, because some people are really good at making one thing and others are good at something else. So suppose you have a great voice and want to record yourself singing, and this person asks for a new lay-out, for example... I would freak out if anyone asked me to sing, that's for sure, or if someone asked something to do with anime, because I know nothing about that. sebluver 12-26-2003, 10:12 PM Who is this lefty91 character? I'd like to meet her :P I wouldn't. She sounds scary. Just kidding. :D For Valentines I always give them to girls, never really to boys. In our school if you give a Valentine to a boy it always seems to mean you like them.. Loren 12-26-2003, 10:27 PM For Valentines I always give them to girls, never really to boys. In our school if you give a Valentine to a boy it always seems to mean you like them.. Same here. The boys never realy give valentines to anyone except their "girlfriend." (If they have one.) The girls give valentines to all their friends (girls) and I believe to their "boyfriend." So, since Elementary school I've never had to do anything for valentines day. MaGiCSuN 12-26-2003, 11:25 PM I like 2 per year secret admirer and secret santa i agree :) i think 2 per year is more then enough, for a start. we can always add more after that if we want to :D but i really would joing both things haha :D Neptune 12-26-2003, 11:35 PM As for me, I'd rather do it with a different holiday. I don't really celebrate Valentine's day. MaGiCSuN 12-26-2003, 11:46 PM if we all should think like that then i think we can better delete this idea :) because i don't celebrate xmas as in presents etc... i don't celebrate valentine's day because i don't have someone to celebrate with it for example.. I don't celebrate easter because ... there is simply not much to celebrate lol and on and on and on.... Neptune 12-26-2003, 11:48 PM True, but I think this one would be very different from the Christmas one. Dunno. No skin off my back. I don't have to do this one if I don't want to :) MaGiCSuN 12-27-2003, 12:00 AM i'm not saying you have to do this :) that's my point... we can do valentines but you don't have to participate (sp?) if you don't want to :) Same with easter, i'm fine with that if people want that.. but i don't think i will participate :) Loren 12-27-2003, 12:09 AM Easter is one of my favorite holidays. :bunny: I don't realy think presents should be with it though, it has enough glory in itself. (and a whole lot to do with my website :) ) I think mabey 1 thing every 4 months is good if we do this too much it will get tiring very quickly. MaGiCSuN 12-27-2003, 12:12 AM  haha no easter for me no :) well yeah we do celebrate it in Holland, but not something special like you have valentine's day with flowers/hearts and christmas with gifts a tree and stuff like that. In the early years we painted eggs etc, but i'm not in the mood for that anymore.. for children it's great though :) westernrider 12-27-2003, 03:31 AM  haha no easter for me no :) well yeah we do celebrate it in Holland, but not something special like you have valentine's day with flowers/hearts and christmas with gifts a tree and stuff like that. In the early years we painted eggs etc, but i'm not in the mood for that anymore.. for children it's great though :) well for some people it has special christian meanings that I am not going to get into because I might make some people mad... I think we should do all of these holidays... even if you do not celebrate it... come on... you could make them a avatar with a easter egg on it ect. :) Easter Valentines Day Christmas Marianne 12-27-2003, 11:25 AM true, Easter is mostly a religious thing. For me, it's mostly a day off work :D bubblegummy 12-27-2003, 11:38 AM The religion thing isn't really an issue, is it? Because we had people of all religions doing the Santa one (I'm atheist for example, but still celebrate Christmas... but not for the Christian reasons), it would probably be the same for other things. Not everyone celebrates Easter but it'd still be fun just to send people eggs and stuff :P Loren 12-27-2003, 02:35 PM I never thought we had so many religions on here. It seems I forget everyone isn't like me. I guess I'm use to living in the US where it seems almost everyone is of a Christian Denomanation (Baptist, Catholic, Prodestent, ect). I'm Baptist, but I know a lot of people from the other demoanations. For me easter has a lot to do with religion and just a little to do with bunnies and candy. Christmas also has a lot to do with religion, but I think it also has a lot to do with presents too sometimes so much people forget why we actualy have it. westernrider 12-27-2003, 03:59 PM I am Christian also... but it really SHOULDN'T matter because say like Bob (he is imaginary :P) was christian and Billy (also made up) was Jewish... and we are doing a Christmas Secret Santa... well Billy could still make something Christmasy for Bob even though he is not Christian... and Bob could make Billy...like a snowflake avatar... because that is not religous at all. kicker91 12-27-2003, 04:08 PM I am jewish, but I really don't care if I participate in secret santa or secret easter bunny or whatever. in 5th grade it was 'Secret Snowman' (how corny) and then this year it was 'Gift Exchange.' hmm whatever. Loren 12-27-2003, 04:28 PM Previous in the wrong theard. It doesn't realy make a difference. I'm Christian so it's all holiday's I celebrate anyway. westernrider 12-27-2003, 04:51 PM yeah... like I was saying it doesn't matter :) it is all a holiday... that is what is good about Valentines Day because any one can celebrate it! Marianne 12-27-2003, 05:28 PM if the fact that we have a lot more females on the forum interferes too much with Valentine, I'm fine with doing something for Easter instead. I think it would be easier to do an egg-animation anyway ;) westernrider 12-27-2003, 05:32 PM that is always so weird to me how girls seem to always be on more than guys on any site... -shrug- anything works for me... I guess I will just leave it at that ;) Loren 12-27-2003, 08:49 PM The boys could make more than 1 gift and get more than 1 if you wanted girls to get boys, but I don't think it would realy matter. Marianne 12-27-2003, 09:01 PM The boys could make more than 1 gift and get more than 1 if you wanted girls to get boys, but I don't think it would realy matter. hmmm, don't think I want to be part of that LOL. I'd rather make something for another female and get something from another female if there's not enough males to go round :) Loren 12-27-2003, 09:08 PM Agreed, I wouldn't realy want to try and make 10 different gifts either. SizzZzlinhair 12-27-2003, 09:38 PM Who is this lefty91 character? I'd like to meet her :P Whoopsie  *lefty2217 I got caught up in the kicker91 thing, and I was in a rush :D sisqoluv 12-27-2003, 10:32 PM As for me, I'd rather do it with a different holiday. I don't really celebrate Valentine's day. I don't celebrate it because I never have anything to celebrate that day... However, if we did do something on the forum (even if it was a simple online gift exchange), it would make the day less depressing. Since some of us don't have a person to spend the day with, why not with our friends at LEIA? SizzZzlinhair 12-27-2003, 10:48 PM I don't see why the girls have to get a boy and vice versa for the Secret Admirer thing. I think we could just do the picking like we did for the SS. kittycat 12-27-2003, 10:52 PM What about a Valentine's day fan sign kind of thing? Doesn't matter who gets who, just make a fansign for the other person, or a gift like this last one if you want. Don't make it 'secret admirer', make it 'secret friend' or something Just a silly suggestion :P Neptune 12-27-2003, 11:51 PM I agree with Kittycat. I generally think if it's more set up on a girl getting a guy and vice versa it would be less randomized, which was part of the fun. And I'm pretty sure no one has romantic intentions here, so it wouldn't matter whether it was a girl or guy because it wouldn't be something lovey-dovey or whatever (as one tends to associate with the holiday), just a friendly gift. Loren 12-27-2003, 11:59 PM I'm pretty sure no one has romantic intentions here, so it wouldn't matter whether it was a girl or guy because it wouldn't be something lovey-dovey or whatever (as one tends to associate with the holiday), just a friendly gift. I don't think you could know anyone well enough on this forum to have that kind of intensions, unless you lived in the same place and actualy knew them personaly. Neptune 12-28-2003, 12:01 AM I know, seriously. Unless you were a creep like someone I won't mention... *hums* Marianne 12-28-2003, 10:18 AM I know, seriously. Unless you were a creep like someone I won't mention... *hums*LOL I was thinking that too  westernrider 12-29-2003, 01:01 AM LOL I was thinking that too  just try picturing yourself being lovey dovey with anyone here *barfs* Loren 12-29-2003, 01:08 AM Their's someone a sort of like, but for all I know their just some impersonator trying to lure kids. I don't think they are but you never know. starlet 12-29-2003, 01:08 AM Someone on LEIA? Loren 12-29-2003, 01:13 AM Figured I'd get something like that. Their's people at school I think I like before even getting to know them so yes. Their 2 people I like at school that I actualy know, so I'm not going to try dating people on LEIA or anything, but yes. Liking someone on LEIA is sort of like liking a movie star. Makar 12-29-2003, 01:25 AM Eh, weren't there two moderators in these forums who were dating or something? I'm too much of a newbie to know for sure. :P starlet 12-29-2003, 01:28 AM Peter and Sheila live together...and i think Lefty and Dude are secretly digging each other hehe Loren 12-29-2003, 01:33 AM I keep forgeting Lefty is a Lady and not a Man for some reason I keep thinking that. Who on the forum is Peter and Sheila (what's their username)? starlet 12-29-2003, 01:37 AM Peter and Sheila  Loren 12-29-2003, 01:41 AM I know sheila but I don't remember a peter. starlet 12-29-2003, 01:42 AM Really? He used to be a mod...he still posts here often! How can anyone not remember Peter :D Loren 12-29-2003, 01:47 AM I guess because I've only been here since April. Supernick 12-29-2003, 01:48 AM Liking someone on LEIA is sort of like liking a movie star. i like almost everyone in this forum. :heart2: Neptune 12-29-2003, 01:52 AM http://www.lissaexplains.com/forum/member.php?userid=588 Peter's profile to spark your memory. Makar 12-29-2003, 03:26 AM Ah yes, I remember Mr. Cheese. And that spiffy avatar of his, no doubt. :D sisqoluv 12-29-2003, 04:54 AM I don't think you could know anyone well enough on this forum to have that kind of intensions, unless you lived in the same place and actualy knew them personaly. Have you came across this supernick guy? If not, we have much to discuss on this matter, Dude128 12-29-2003, 04:56 AM and i think Lefty and Dude are secretly digging each other hehe ::whistles:: lefty 12-29-2003, 04:59 AM Shhh, they're on to us! westernrider 12-29-2003, 05:13 AM oooooh lala :heart2: love is in the air Loren 12-29-2003, 03:22 PM Have you came across this supernick guy? If not, we have much to discuss on this matter, Yep seen him. (A little too much) I think I sort of remember Peter now. starlet 12-29-2003, 03:39 PM ooooh i knew it! Do i get invited to the wedding then? Sheila 12-29-2003, 03:46 PM Really? He used to be a mod...he still posts here often! How can anyone not remember Peter :D I remember him. ;) I think I've seen him lurking around my place. Peter 12-29-2003, 04:23 PM *lurking....lurking* ;) westernrider 12-29-2003, 05:39 PM lol :) I have seen Supernick *cough* he stalks people *cough* ... no no... I am not getting into this again... that belongs in the over 13 forum :buckt: then don't bring this up again :) ~ mod kicker91 01-01-2004, 04:59 PM lol :) I have seen ****** I am not getting into this again... that belongs in the over 13 forum :buckt: then don't bring this up again :) ~ mod *nods at Mirna* Ravie 01-01-2004, 05:54 PM Well I don't think gender should be a problem in any of these said events. It's not like any of these thinks are really suppose to be romantic etc. I am a male and uh sometimes active here, when I have time :p. The school I went to had a few of these things. There was one during Fall called Secret Leaf. Weirdness.... weirdness. Makar 01-02-2004, 01:43 AM Secret Leaf...? Heh, that is weird. I remember in elementary school (eh, I don't think I spelled that right) we had to participate in St. Valentine's Day and give everyone in our class a Valentine. Gee, I'm glad that's over. :P Ravie 01-02-2004, 07:44 AM It had to do with the schools policy of having nothing to do with any religions. Therefore there was no Secret Santa or Valentine, as those are associated with religious holidays. Even though Santa isn't actually a religious icon. They have things like Leaf, Snowball, Bird, Tree, Pineapple, Acorn etc. I actually heard that one year they had Secret Musrhooms :confusion. Makar 01-02-2004, 08:23 AM Wow, and look at that, all nature-oriented. :confusion I don't see any religious problem with Valentines though...erm...I know it was started by a guy named St. Valentine, but I don't know the whole story behind it. Marianne 01-02-2004, 09:06 AM Santa was kind of invented by Coca Cola, but long before there was a Coca Cola, we already had Saint Nickolas, though he does not allpear at christmas, I'm pretty sure Santa was based on our Saint, so therefore, I think he originates from a religious icon. As for the secret mushrooms, I'm sure you can buy them here too ;) Makar 01-02-2004, 09:25 AM What are you saying? LEIA sells shrooms? Whoa, the things that go over my head. Marianne 01-02-2004, 12:49 PM no, I didn't mean "here, at LEIA". I live in Holland, so... Ravie 01-02-2004, 02:50 PM Mushroom... Mushroom.. BadgerBadgerBadgerBadger BadgerBadger Mushroom....Mushroom.. Santa Claus is based on Saint Nicolas who was actually the patrant saint of Sailors amonst other things. We don't really accciate him as a saint now though. They picture most people have now is from a Coke add which was actually a mixer of a lot of different Santa's at the time. He's just some chubby man who lives at the North Pole and has reindeer etc. Actually Saint Valentine's Day originally was called Feast of Lubercus. It was changed to Saint Valentine's Day later and then boys or males drew names of saints. They had to emulate whichever saint for a year etc. Later it was changed back to drawing female names. Which it was to begin with blah blah there is more info but I don't wanna get into that. Side note: My sons seem to think Santa is a clown. :confusion SSPrincess 01-02-2004, 05:28 PM I'm a bit late, but I think Secert Santa was a good idea. Only problem is whenever someone puts down SS, I keep on thinking they mean me, which means I've somehow become very popular...:stickout: Neptune 01-02-2004, 06:01 PM I heard some pretty weird stuff about St. Valentine's day that involved goats. It was way too strange and gross to mention anything else on it here though. |
