View Full Version : Names
adrielle 12-23-2003, 12:16 PM If you're a girl and your parents thought you were a boy before you were born, what name were they planning to give you? (and vice versa) Hehe..I was supposed to be Aidan, that is, before they scanned:P lol, I sort of like Aidan:P
bubblegummy 12-23-2003, 02:24 PM According to my mum, I was going to be James or Michael. Heh.
jessi15 12-23-2003, 02:33 PM Steve Michael
Arc Angel 12-23-2003, 02:56 PM I would've been Katelyn. o.0
SSPrincess 12-23-2003, 02:59 PM Hmmm...I'll have to ask. However, now that you mention being named something else, I almost didn't get named Sarah! My mom and dad picked out two names, Sarah and Elizabeth, and hadn't decided which one. Well, to make a long story short, when I was born, and it was time to name me, my mom couldn't remember Elizabeth, so I got named Sarah. And then my little sister came along, so they named her Elizabeth. The End. ;)
Eric. But my parents weren't big on that cause they had a feeling I'd be a girl :P
Cherchezlafemme 12-23-2003, 03:36 PM I would be named Ariel (pronounced in spanish as 'AH-rr-ee-EL'), it's tradition every first boy born in the family has been named after our great grandfather :P But my dad broke the rule by naming my two little brothers Ariel [the] 4, Ariel [the] 5
kittycat 12-23-2003, 03:37 PM Either Mark or Luke I think... glad I'm not a boy, I'm not fond of either of those names! :P
Marianne 12-23-2003, 03:52 PM Peter.
since there were 3 Peter's back at primary school, in my year alone, I was pretty glad I was a girl.
For their first kid, my dad picked the boys name, Eric, and my mum the girl's name, Jolanda.
For the 2nd kid, my dad picked the girl's name, mine, and my mum picked the boys name, Peter.
For the 3rd one, my dad piced the boys name, Remco, and my mum picked the girls name, Elizabeth.
After that, they quit breeding
Soooo... my dad got to pick all our names LOL. I think he did a good job though.
MaGiCSuN 12-23-2003, 04:02 PM I would have been called "rick" if i was a boy... and my parents hate that name now  so i'm really glad i'm a girl :P
adrielle 12-23-2003, 04:05 PM Another girl's name I would've been was: Shannon. Honestly. ;)
I would be named Ariel (pronounced in spanish as 'AH-rr-ee-EL'), it's tradition every first boy born in the family has been named after our great grandfather :P But my dad broke the rule by naming my two little brothers Ariel [the] 4, Ariel [the] 5
I might have read that wrong but.. you have two brother with the same name?
westernrider 12-23-2003, 05:35 PM I would have been Luke... it is not a bad name but I like Sophia better... my mom had a ton of names for me... Sarah, Rose (which is now my middle name), Bella (ick!), Madeline, and Rebeckah.... all of the names are pretty and all but they just do not fit me :)
Dude128 12-23-2003, 06:36 PM my mom said that she liked the name Mallory (because of the character on the show Family Ties. seriously), but apparently my dad didn't like that name. I think (I really should remember this for sure, I heard this fairly recently when TV Land had a 48 hour Family Ties marathon lol) they would have named me Meghan. but apparently they didn't really know what boy's name they wanted, because they said I went a day or two without a name after I was born lol- but I was a little early, so that's probably why they hadn't finally decided yet :P
Rosey 12-23-2003, 06:42 PM I think they were going to call me Jean Eric if I had been a boy. My sister would have also been called Jean Eric if she had been a boy and then a boy finally came and you know what they named him? Jean Christophe, at least they kept the first name the same....
I know they would have named my brother Cécile something if he had been a girl.
apples 12-23-2003, 06:53 PM I was going to be Gabriel.
jessi15 12-23-2003, 07:37 PM I think they were going to call me Jean Eric if I had been a boy. My sister would have also been called Jean Eric if she had been a boy and then a boy finally came and you know what they named him? Jean Christophe, at least they kept the first name the same....

Yeah, my sister would have been Michael Steve (I personally think Steve Michael sounds better) because I turned out a girl. Instead her name is Jasmine.
Valkyrie 12-23-2003, 07:52 PM If I had been born a boy, they would have named me Roger...0_0
Supernick 12-23-2003, 09:29 PM my parents heisted between Nicolas and Patrick for a guy and they would have called me Marie-Claude if i were a girl, they finally called me Nicolas instead of Patrick. My sister was born 3yrs after me and they called her Marie-Claude. my mom said they would have called her Patrick if she were a boy. :D
Neptune 12-23-2003, 10:05 PM Robert or Jonathan.
My parents didn't choose names for me or my sister until after we were born, and they chose not to know our genders either, so my dad went around for weeks referring to my then-unborn sister by a boy's name (our names are Arabic (though we're not) so I figure posting them is a futile exercise...).
Hmmm...I was born 2 months early, which is probably why they didn't choose my name until I was born...though that never occured to me,
Ayosu_Ling 12-23-2003, 11:40 PM I think..i was going to be named eric or kyle or something if i was a boy..*shrugs*.
lefty 12-24-2003, 12:16 AM I would have been Mark Jr. Way to go, creativity. :P
I was almost named Gina, but I have a cousin with the same name who's a year older than me so they thought that would be dumb. When my sister was born, though, they didn't really talk that much, so they didn't care and named her Gina instead.
zangerbanger 12-24-2003, 12:21 AM Weird... I never really thought about this before. Maybe I ought to ask my parents out of the ordinary sometime... :stickout: .
LesPaul59 12-24-2003, 02:17 AM I'll have to ask because they're asleep, but I see those Michael's at the thread's beginning. Good choices ;)
adrielle 12-24-2003, 10:36 AM Hah...I was to be Adrian Michael.
starlet 12-24-2003, 02:10 PM Im asking my mum now, she says she doesnt remember having boys names in mind...now shes thinking....now shes asking my dad, he doesnt know either....they reckon they knew i was gonna be a girl. Now my mum says Mark...and my dads laughing and saying 'hello mark haha'
My family are odd!
westernrider 12-24-2003, 02:38 PM my mom and dad were really not sure about my name since they had so many to pick from. I think the thing that confirmed what they wanted to name me is as they were leaving the hospital the woman at the seck suggested a few names and Sophia was one of them :P
CatsHorsesLuver 04-21-2004, 02:00 PM I'm really not sure, but my older sister got to name me. My name is Russian, but in English it would be Kate.
I was almost named Elizabeth by my mom, that's the name she had in mind and she says she never even thought I'd be a boy.
Neptune 04-21-2004, 07:08 PM This is not an old thread, no sir, it is not.
Emilie 04-21-2004, 07:17 PM My mom emediatly wanted to know with the first echo
But when I asked her she said 'I think I would have called you 'Roderik' or 'Floris''
I kinda like Floris
But Roderik... na-ah
my cat was called Roderik :confusion
My parents wanted to call me something short so i didnt have to spend so long writing it out(thye must have known i was going to be lazy), if i was a boy then i'd have been called Roy..which to me is so weird because i never hear that name...maybe if i was used to it...but i'm glad to be a girl and called Suzy because not many people have the same name as me..yay:)
CatsHorsesLuver 04-21-2004, 08:52 PM This is not an old thread, no sir, it is not.
Huh?
kicker91 04-21-2004, 09:37 PM Eric. But my parents weren't big on that cause they had a feeling I'd be a girl :P
I feel special. XD
I think I was gonna be some other girl's name that starts with 'E', such as Elana or Emily. o_o;
lefty 04-21-2004, 10:19 PM Huh?
