i have heard Mac is the way to go if you are heavy into graphics or video,
pc is the way to go for everything else.

PC with Windows... I haven't used a Mac in so long, but I hated them, lol. My elementary school used to have them for a while. By fifth grade, we had PCs and it's been like that ever since. I would never get a Mac for home, but maybe that's just me. A lot of the PC games I play aren't on Mac or have more issues on Mac computers. *shrugs* I'm planning on getting a laptop when I go off to college. That way I can take notes faster and visit the forum between classes... I mean, study between classes. ;)

umm well what's evil about them is that they don't work really well. And if you're like a beginner with MAC's then you have a very hard time. Also the new ones are conffoozling everything I put in the hardrive I can't find two minutes later :P

jessi15
12-22-2003, 07:28 PM
All I would need a laptop for is internet and a word processor basically, not that many games and such. I guess I'll just have to try it out myself. Some people at school love them and others hate them. Oh well, I can't wait to get mine!

I have a PC, but we use macs for Computer Design at school. All I can think of when I sit down at that computer is, "Where's the right-click?"

I'd rather have right-click than a mac.

No :crying: but at least we can keep them over christmas and spring break. Although, if I like it I might buy one in the future for university to take notes and stuff. I still can't believe though that there handing over 2000$ laptops (canadian) to little grade 3 kids.

I have a PC, with Windows 98 SE. I also have RedHat Linux...err, 7.2 I think? installed, but I haven't used it in ages. I might use it more often if I didn't have a stupid Winmodem, and I'm too cheap/lazy to get a new one.

I don't think school computers are a good thing to base an opinion off of. my school has PCs and I hate them :P well, the old ones anyway. they have/had IBM pieces of garbage that are about 5 years old, with Windows 95. 98 was out when they got them, but they have 95 because IBM had a whole bunch (at least 575+ of them, because that's how many the school claims to have) of old ones lying around that the school district got cheap. they upgraded most of them recently to Dells with Windows XP, but some old ones are still around- in one classroom because they have special privleges set on them for the programming classes, and in another classroom and in the newspaper's office because the version of Adobe PageMaker the paper uses isn't compatible with XP, and since it's so expensive, they won't upgrade it. so the computers I use most often are PCs, but i absolutely hate them.

i would defenitally go for the PC ! might not be the most beautiful computer to watch at, but its more worth it (in my eyes) then a mac

wework with macs at school, i just find them evil. Everything is on the other side, programs don't close if you 'close' them but you have to close them again in the top grrr it's annoying! but i have to deal with it, since i might be going into that bussiness..

but i have to admit, the imac laptop (ibook i believe) in white is beautiful! too look at then ;)

Man peter that is one mean machine your building there what are you planning to do with it? Hack into the FBI? (I know that is one mean machine because I'm a 12 year old with the knowledge of a computer nerd.

I'm the thread starter! I prefer PC's. Nice and simple, compatible with a majority of things, crash less often, less bulky thier just completely better.
I've used Mac's before they are horendus! Just so in compatible, complicated, crashy, big sqaure chunky. If I had to use one I know how but I prefer macs any day. I think reason why Pro software is normally used on macs because the software companies are bribed by Macintosh to make thier software Mac compatible only to boost mac sales. Linux is not bad I'll prefer it to a mac. There's to versions of linux "open source" and the other kind. Open source linux is more for nerds becase with that you can edit the OS code and make it perform the way you want. In first place I would put PC, second Linux and third mac.

Dude128
12-23-2003, 10:23 PM
Linux is always open source. "Linux" refers to the kernel only, which is open source. it's other software that often comes bundled with the kernel that may or may not be open source, but most software that runs on Linux is.

I got into a heavy arguement with someone not too long ago concerning Macs and PCs. I've honestly experimented with both over the last ten years and Windows is definately the way to go. I've used mac all my life... we have a mac in the house that's 18 years old... it still works. I prefer mac, or I'd have complained to my parents about it, heh. Windows seems so... cold, I don't know. It's ugly! xp seems to look smoother, though I haven't tried it... I can't believe some of you have never seen or used macs, though.... All the schools I've gone to have had their education deals with apple, I guess, so we use macs there. Of course, some are pretty old. I like how macs are pretty.... I like the interface, cause I'm used to it. The things you guys said annoy you annoy me oppositely when I'm on windows... I hate that darned right click button! (though, our mouse broke, so I'm using one that has that button, heh). If you want to see my mac, here's a pic compy (http://www.xanthians.com/ducky/compy.jpg) (I hope that isn't advertising).

I've never used a mac but PC's are awesome. Most of what I'm about to say has probably been said, but I'm to lazy to read back. :P They are the most widely supported. i would love to have a iBook pink one haha, but i have no idea why though... Because i really HATE iMacs.. they are evil to me, and because of that i'm evil to them too :P

Still we need to use them on school, and probably one plus is that macs are always free in our study room at school because most people stick to pc :P I just don't get it why everything needs to be slightly different, like closing a browser is on the left, while in IE on the right (macs at my school use opera, evil!). It took me a while to figure that out though, and i often resized my browser when all i wanted was closing it
