w00t!!! It comes out wednesday! :D I'm pre-ordering the tickets today. muahaha!

Although I'm really excited... I'm kind of dissapointed. They are leaving out a chapter or two at the end of the book. Saruman has been cut out of the last movie entirely too. So I'm wondering if it will stay true to the book. But even if it don't, it'll still make an awesome movie! :D

Anywho, is anyone else going to see it on the first day?

I made my dad stop talking for a minute while the ad was playing, hehe. I've been trying to convince my mum to let me go to the first screening, but she won't since it's a school night. I am seeing it the day it comes out, but not the minute it comes out. My friend got to see the first screening or the Two Towers last year. Lucky..

I've got bball after school everyday, then I have homework and dinner and everything. I'll probably see it this weekend because my sister's coming home from college :)

Considering how much they left out of the second one, they'd almost have to or else it would be much too long of a movie :P Not that many people would mind, of course.

Does anyone know how long this one is supposed to be? I've heard just over three hours to almost four, so I'm curious which is more true.

I'm not sure if I'll be going on Wednesday night or not. Most likely not, though I would like to. It all depends on if the local theatre will actually have it or not, and if my mum will allow me to stay up 'that late' on a school night :P I'll have to find out what other people are doing.

I have a choir concert. Yipee! I'm not that big of a fan to see the first screening. Even my dad and brother(who have read the books and are much bigger fans) think it is kinda rediculous to see it at that time. Eh.

A nice 3 hours and 50 minutes. This would probably be a 4 and a half hour movie with saruman in it. And my mom didn't like the idea of seeing it at midnight and getting home at 4. So I'll see it in the afternoon, I think.

I have no intentions of seeing it (didn't see any of the others, nor have I read the books), but I just felt like mentioning this :P

apparently a local radio station is doing something rather cool (I think, and that's even though I won't be participating :P) tomorrow: show up at the movie theatre tomorrow morning at 8:00 with a canned good to be donated to a local food bank, and you get in to see the movie for free :P

Don't worry, last year I had people walk up to me in school and ask me if I was the person they had seen in the theatre, and I remembered seeing them too. (We go to a really small theatre)

Just got back from seeing it-and although I wish it had followed the book more, I really liked it.

My brother's going to see it again on Saturday..haha, geekdom owns.

Cutting class...heh...almost half of my school's population was strangely absent today...and there were only 4 people (including me) at my swim practice....hmm....at least it wasn't as bad as when the first LOTRs came out. On that day, only 15 seniors out of 300 were in school that day, and about 2/3 of each of the grades was absent as well...boy the school was empty, and it wasn't even a snow day!

However, I'm cursed not to see it until after Christmas!!! :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

later i got the LotR poster :) mwahhaa and no i'm not obsessed. he's just sooo much better looking then the guys at school. lol, fresh air! j/k

but my best friend thinks Dominic (Merry, is it?) looks good. i dont see WHAT she's lookin at, but i like orlando bloom! and he's talented! lol okay this post is gonna end..

I just saw it.

I didn't even come close to crying and I cry easily! I cried for a half hour when a sheep died in a game I was playing. Then I cried more whenever someone brought up the topic. And, yet, I didn't shead a single tear during the RofK. I cried more during the Matrix: Revolutions.

None the less, it was a good movie.

The only time I ever cried over LotR was when I was reading the Two Towers, and I thought Frodo was dead because of Shelob. Then I realized he was alive, and I stopped crying, heh.

I cried more during the Matrix: Revolutions.
I really hate how they drag out death scenes so that the character can have their final say. I was ready to at least be mildly upset (as I am when I break the chain of my favourite necklace) but then it was dragged out for something like 4 minutes..I think I was one of many people in the theatre thinking, "Shut up and die!"

Yeah. I was to busy trying not to cry and then I notced she wasn't dead yet. Yup. They dragged her death out waaaaaay to long. I also cried during the end when Neo was taken away on the big machine thing.

I should probably say something about LotR....I also thought Frodo died when the big spider thing(whatever you call it). I didn't seem to have much of and effect by it. Not even with Sam's little speech.

the only time I have ever cried during Lotr is in the movie the Fellowship Of The Rings and Aragon is talking to that man (I can not remember his name, is was one of the men from Gondor (sp?) and it starts with a B) who just got shot by the arrows and he was about to die :crying: so sad.

My sister saw it last night, and she said it was really REALLY gorry.. she also said that the battle scenes were dragged out longer and there was less time in between each battle scene. My sister and I have really different tastes in movies though, so I still want to see it :P

Owlie42
12-30-2003, 02:36 AM
I didn't think it was all that gory. Not a whole lot of blood, just people dying everywhere. I just thought it was kind of abrupt in its switching between Frodo and Sam, Rohan, and Gondor. There should have been a bit more time between the battle scenes, though.

Owlie42
01-03-2004, 01:45 AM
Well, the book doesn't suit a movie plot. There's a whole lot of long, drawn out goodbyes that they got rid of...otherwise it would have been four hours long.

I think the best part was the part where Eowyn hacks the Nazgul's creature's head off. Then at some later point, the Nazgul says "No man can kill me." and Eowyn takes off her helmet, says "I am no man," and stabs him. :D

Funny, yes, but you do realize that "man" in this context meant "member of the race of men" or "mankind".

It was also kinda ambiguous, so Eowyn was just letting the Nazgrul know that it was mistaken in one context of the word...

Don't be too picky, just enjoy the movie!

They left out a LOT of stuff. It's been ages since I read the book (I read it in 6th grade...) so I forgot the specifics. But they left out Saruman getting chopped up in the Shire, I remember that much,
