It is SOOO confusing! I want to install greymatter onto my domain. I found a tutorial that says I need to CHMOD certain files. Well, I found another tutorial on CHMODing. But I DON'T UNDERSTAND ONE WORD! *sobs* it is so confusing and I believe I will end up giving up on greymatter! Can someone please help me or give me a site with a tutorial? Plus, I don't get what to do when it says to log on to your FTP account.... Sorry, I'm new to my domain.

*sobs**cries* Thanks!

ok... i don't really understand why you take a domain while you haven't actually had experience with these things but it's allright i will try to explain most of it

1. chmod is uploading your files with an code. In an readme file that is in the greymatter file you can read the EXACT codes you have to enter when you have to upload a certain file. Also a search on this forum (search button above) will bring you to some other threads about chmoding

2. logging in into your ftp account is just logging in on your ftp where you upload your files with. If you have an FTP program you enter your password and username and ftp url (mostly ftp.yourdomain.com ) and connect.

the most easy way to ftp your files is with windows but i believe you cannot chmod with that. So you can get WS_FTP wich is an easy program and downloadable at www.downloads.com and to understand the program do a search on www.google.com for "WS_FTP tutorial" and you will get some i'm sure of that

I hope that i helped you out a bit. I didn't mean to offend you or anything. But it's good to check out something first before you start with it.

Here you got several tutorials about ws_ftp :
http://jabba.ipswitch.com/query.html?col=ipswitch&qc=ipswitch&lk=2&nh=20&template=ipswitch&qt=ws_ftp+tutorial

I hope you can work it out. It isn't as hard as it seems to be. Like you log in to your email account you also log in to your ftp account. The only thing that is different is that the email is online and ftp is a program.

Love,
Mirna
