I have a website which specialises in distributing PDF files, and i want to make links such that when you click on the link to the PDF, the PDF will open in your internet browser. How do i do this? Do i have to upload the PDF in a special way or something?

Um... As far as I know you just link it to the PDF file itself, but I dunno...
yes, it may depend on the browser, its version, or its settings, but i think if you just normal link it, the browser will show the pdf file in itself (if it recognizes the file type).
if the computer of the visiting person does not know what a pdf file is, it may bring up the download prompt instead.
<a href="filename.pdf"> click </a>

Hmm ok, if that's the case how can i change my browser settings to make it recognise PDF files?
its been awhile, but it may just be to download the "reader" and it probably has the plugin builtin when you load it....

you don't change your browser, you download the reader from adobe and it'll just work. it's not a setting that you can change. it's kinda like linking to a doc or xls file. if you have word and excel installed it'll work.
if it's for your site then all you can do is have a link to the adobe site so the user can install it on their machine. if they don't have it they won't be able to read it.
i think pb&j is thinking of flash. with flash you don't need the flash program to run it. all you need is the plug in.
