Okay, so I was looking for a way to have a simple news posting system, so I searched for it in the forums, I found what I wanted and downloaded it. It says that I have to upload the program to my server (and I don't have one), so I found one that I could download. But I really don't understand how a server works, so I'm not sure if I should download it. Can someone help me? Do servers take up space on your computer? I know NOTHING about servers....HELP!!! I'm confused...:\

When they say to upload something to your server, they're just telling you to upload it to your site :)

The server is normally at your host's end.
You upload the files on your computer to theirs so that people can access them. Its the oppostie of downloading.

A free host is: http://www.brinkster.com which offers a simple uploader.

Thanks! For a minute I was worried that I would have to get my own server...my site is hosted on www.freewebs.com Does anyone know if it will let me upload? I don't know if it will. If it does, then I can't find it. Maybe I'll sign up with brinkster! ;)
