I downloaded file named "Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring DVD SCREENER CD2 DivX-DVL.avi" using filesharing program.

Then when I tried to open it RealPlayer said that it doesn't support that format, though it plays other avi files without no problem.

But the point is that I already have other version of this movie so I'd like to delete this one. But it says that it is used by another program though I know all programs using movie files are closed.

How can I get rid of it? It takes 700 000 KB on my computer!

try this...
Start > Shutdown your computer.
Startup your computer.
Now try deleting the file before you start any other program yourself.

if you rprogram doesn't let you play the file you probably need some kind of codec to play it. Mostly when you try to play it has a button saying "info" or something about the error. Then it will say wich codec you need to play it

getting codecs shouldn't be hard but since I don't have too much free space on my hard disk and I have already other version of this film, I'd really like to delete this one somehow...

I found those two links on a google search for "delete file in use", so if neither of those appeal for use then try a search of your own.

What is your OS? Windows 98? Windows XP? Microsoft has what you call Windows Explorer! Click on "Start". Scroll to "All Programs". Then right scroll to "Windows Explorer"! Double click on it and click on "My Computer". Then click on "C:". Go to the avi file and delete it!
