PSP 8 doesn't read .jbr or .abr files anymore. You have to import and convert them to use them in your newest version from PSP.

you can do that like this:

1. Make sure the older brushes (.jbr format, some can be .abr but remember not all .abr work in PSP) are on your computer in some kind of folder.
2. open up PSP 8
3. click on file > import > custom brush
4. click on the button "open"
5. look up your old brushes and select them all then hit "open"
6. now all your old brushes are in the left field. Select the ones you want to import into version 8 of PSP and hit "add". Or if you want them all just hit "add all"
7. now the selected ones will be in the right field. then hit "ok" and they will be converted into your new version

click on the "brush" tool and then go to the little window on top to choose the 'shape' of brush. You will see that they are into that field :)

preset shapes however don't need to be converted. You can just insert those files from preset shapes into the "folder" from your new version PSP and they will work.
