Div layers to me?? OK guys, I feel the need to explain myself here in case you missed my introduction!:) I'm a 35yr old mom, who's been taking online classes in handcoding. My graduation is coming up and I HAVE to get going on my site. LOL! I've been surfing around, getting ideas and I so far I've managed to confuse myself to no end! Yes. I'm very easily confused! LOL! Anyway I've read Lissa's tut on Divs. Searched the forum and even read all related posts and replys but I'm still doing the "Duh" thing with Divs! I just don't really understand them. What is the difference between tables, iframes and Divs? To me it seems as if Div layers act like tables or even frames but... I know there are differences of course. In what instances would Div layers be more appropriate than the others? Can you combine Divs with the others and why would you want to do that?
So "the assignment of the day" is to explain the differences, in your own words, trying to keep it simple enough for 1 very confused woman! LOL!

TIA :)

BTW-- I really enjoy this forum! You guys ROCK!:waving:

DIV is a container. it is best resembling it to a P tag. it may be used similar to a TABLE area.

basically, you can put whatever stuff you like into a DIV area...
<div>
my text here
</div>
then you can apply any sort of css coding to it depending on what you want it to do. you can position the DIV to a different part of the screen, you can add a border to it, you can make it have a scroll bar, and so on. css is the magic behind a DIV.

a TABLE is like a spreadsheet. rows and columns solid on a page.

IFRAMES and FRAMES allow you to show two webpages of information at the same time. they also allow you to change the contents (different webpage) in them at the click of a link.

that help a bit?

this thread is from 3 years back, but yes, it's good to see that you can be "older" and still be able to learn to do cool things on the net :D
