Mirna just sent me this email.

Hi there,

i have a big problem i can't seem to solve this alone. I would have posted this on the board but since my problem has to do with "page not found" page i am not able to even reach the board.

50% of the site's that i type in give me a "page not found" or "page cannot be displayed". Like www.lissaexplains.com or www.lissaexplains.com/forum or www.blogger.com or www.microsoft.com all of them cannot be reached. My own site even looks terrible on my computer because i cannot reach www.bravenet.com so my poll doesn't show up and now the whole layout is out of order.

my question to you is can you post this problem on the LEIA board for me? because all the boards i'm a member at cannot be found on my computer and or laptop. i did a viruscheck too, nothing to be found. This problem is on my laptop but also on my pc since they are on the same network.

what i DID reached was the support site from microsoft.com (i cannot reach www.microsoft.com but i can support.microsoft.com go figure lol) and i found an article there. The url to it is : http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=305217 but i don't understand any word of that lol.

if you want to do this thank you so much, because i know some on LEIA know allot about computers. Oh yeah by the way on my laptop i use XP home edition, and on the pc i use Windows98. Both use IE 6.0

Thank you

Love,
Mirna

i have no idea what happened, but now most pages seem to work again. i also had this "dotcomtoolbar" on my computer, wich i have now deleted for good (i hope).

my site is also good again, i have no idea what it was.. I was worried because i found things via www.google.com (wich offcourse i couldn't open either) that where leading to a virus that made "page not found" pages show up just like that.

thanks for posting this starlet.

Love,
Mirna

You would think that would be a problem on the ISP's end since both computers are down.

What is your network adapter?
Do you leave any of your computers online all the time?

If you do that is a good way to get a virus/let someone hack your PC, but I guess with servers you realy don't have a choice.

So my thoughts are either something infected the server and then transfered itself to the laptop or you ISP is having problems.

What's you antivirus software?

That happened to me once too but none of the pages showed up. I use comcast so my internet's always on. It was odd because my mom has a labtop downstairs and she has a card thingie so it can receive the data and the internet worked there but not on the upstairs computers that had the cable directly into them. Later on that night it would work for a while then quite. But the next day it worked just fine. Odd. Either something odd was going on with our cable or it was something over at comcast.

yeah, we have cable and when we turn off the computer the modem stays on, well like on 'stand by' the lights are not flickering like when it's 'full in use'. I know it's an easy way for hackers etc to get in... but otherwise we have to get behind the computer, pull out the plug, then put it back in when we want to internet and go behind the computer etc... it's so much hassle lol. and it takes some time too before the modem is full connected again

Thanks all :)

Mirna
