View Full Version : font problems SOLVED! =}
Someone1 11-19-2000, 11:25 PM i found a really cool script that allows you to put ANY font you want onto your site (it's CSS). The script is:
@font-face {font-family: "whatever the font name is"; src: url(/filename.eot)}
All you have to do is substitute whatever the font name is and the filename (of the font). your font must be saved as .eot extension. u can convert fonts into .eot using WEFT (downloadable at http://www.microsoft.com/typography/web/embedding/weft2/ ) u have to upload the font to your server and VIOLA! any body on the web can see your font! :flower:
Karen_ 11-19-2000, 11:29 PM Woah!!! THATS SWEET!!!! cool thanks :)
joanne 12-07-2000, 03:21 PM I'm not sure, but I think that only works in Internet Explorer.
starlet 12-07-2000, 04:22 PM Wow thats cool, so they can see any font!
I wouldnt have a clue how to do it tho. sounds too confusing to me, im still not great at this pc lark LOL
CandyGrrl 12-07-2000, 05:09 PM thats is cool! thanks for shareing it with us!!!
omg, thats awesome! thanx! :)
joanne 12-08-2000, 02:37 AM But.. why would you want to use it if only people with IE5+ with font embedding capabilities and font embedding enabled can see it? I use IE5.5 but have disabled font embedding. Isn't it better to code to be compatible with most people's settings?
starlet 12-08-2000, 02:42 AM My whole sites set up for people with IE+5, i dont belive in all that stuff about makin it compatable for everybody. i use site meter which gives u loads of stats and only about 3% use natscape and only about 2% have under IE+5. Call me evil but they shoud get a better one LOL
YouThenMe 12-08-2000, 07:38 AM I'm evil too then, starlet, 'cause I totally agree with you! :lol:
jammy nic 12-12-2000, 06:27 PM i don't make my site netscape compatable.
satellite, that's pretty nifty! i'll have to use it sometime, thanx for sharing. :)
Karen_ 12-12-2000, 07:07 PM Actually, I have IE5 but on my old computer I couldn't use it and I had to use netscape :( but I agree, IF they can, they should just download IE...
jammy nic 12-14-2000, 08:59 PM yep! maybe we could like provide a link to just download IE?!
Midnight_Moon 12-22-2000, 03:20 PM Wont they have to download the font first to their computer before they can view it properly...?
babyazndragon 12-25-2000, 07:50 AM umm i tried downloading some fonts and when i tried to open them they go "Not a Microsoft Chat Conversation file." and i don't know why.. because i don't want it to open up in Microsoft Chat.. grr.. stupid Microsoft chat.
believer 01-07-2001, 09:08 PM I tried that Weft program but I don't really understand how it works. I tried to follow the tutorial but I'm kinda confused. Can anyone explain how to use the program?
Amber on the Web 01-30-2001, 08:35 PM So this means if you have a weird font that you downloaded somewhere or a font that most people don't have, u can use this so anyone can view it?
adrielle 07-22-2003, 02:52 PM thanks ALOT, Someone1!!!
